From the perspective of a color blind individual, distinguishing certain colors becomes an impossible task. Sim Daltonism offers the capability to visually experience colors as they appear to individuals with various forms of color blindness.
With Sim Daltonism, you can simply point your camera at any object and witness how it would be perceived by someone with color blindness. This tool can be utilized to enhance the accessibility of visual designs, gain better insight into peculiar color choices in a child's artwork, or simply to gain a deeper understanding of the world through the eyes of someone with color blindness.
Sim Daltonism is capable of simulating the vision associated with numerous types of color blindness:
- Red-Green:
- Deuteranopia (absence of green cones)
- Deuteranomaly (anomalous green cones)
- Protanopia (absence of red cones)
- Protanomaly (anomalous red cones)
- Blue-Yellow:
- Tritanopia (absence of blue cones)
- Tritanomaly (anomalous blue cones)
- All colors:
- Monochromacy
- Partial monochromacy
Please note that the displayed colors are merely an approximation. Color blindness varies from person to person, and thus, the simulation cannot accurately represent everyone's vision. Other factors, such as automatic white point calibration of the camera, can also impact the results. Nevertheless, Sim Daltonism serves as a valuable tool in gaining a better understanding of color blindness.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that Sim Daltonism is an open-source software.
